Between uncontaminated nature, crystal clear sea, archaeological and cultural areas and some of the most famous beaches of the whole Mediterranean, the south west of Sardinia is the favorite destination both for families with children and for couples who love tranquility or sports enthusiasts.
Stretches of white sand alternate with incredible sand dunes. This area of southern Sardinia is also often beaten by the mistral wind making it particularly popular for surfing and kitesurfing.
Among the most beautiful and unmissable beaches with shallow waters and warm green tones, with clear seabed located in the area of Santa Margherita di Pula and Chia very close to the hotel Is Molas are:
Piscinas beach
Piscinas beach is considered the pearl of the Costa Verde: an immense expanse of golden sand and crystal clear sea and 3km of sand dunes up to 60 meters high create a truly breathtaking scenery. It is located near Marina di Arbus and is one of the favorite beaches for surfers due to the frequent presence of high and long waves.
This beach is considered the only true European desert and has been included together with Sleeping Bear Point in Michigan and Corniche Beach in France, among the ideal destinations for "Dune walkers".
The beach is also equipped with a bar and a restaurant and it is possible to rent parasols.
Tuerredda beach
Located between Chia and Teulada, Tuerredda is certainly one of the most beautiful beaches in Sardinia: the blue sea and fine white sand give it that almost Caribbean flavor, without forgetting the Mediterranean scrub that surrounds it that intoxicates the air with its unique scents. Right in front of the beach there is a small island that can also be reached by swimming where there is a tower that gives the name to the beach: “Sa Tuerredda” precisely. At the entrance there are several parking areas (for a fee), while on the coast there are beaches equipped with umbrellas and sunbeds, refreshment points and the possibility of renting windsurfing and canoes.
Porto Pino beach
In the south-western part of Sardinia, on the Sulcis coast, we find this characteristic bay surrounded by dunes and divided in turn into two large beaches.
Porto Pino beach is located in the Sant’Anna Arresi area; the sea is characterized by a shallow seabed which makes this beach perfect for children and the coast is also accessible to people with disabilities.
Various services are available to tourists such as ample parking (also for campers), beach equipment rental, camping, bar and restaurant.
Cala Cipolla
The blue colors of the water blend with the green of the Mediterranean scrub creating a truly postcard setting. Smaller than the other beaches, in high season it is often crowded and it is therefore advisable to arrive early in the morning or visit it in quieter periods to be able to appreciate it to the fullest. The parking lot is about a hundred meters from the beach, together with a kiosk bar and beyond a promontory we find the beach of Su Giudeu.
Su Giudeu beach
Also known as the beach of Abba Durci (fresh water beach), it is a long stretch of white sand surrounded by high dunes, in the renowned tourist resort of Chia. From the clear and crystalline sea you can also admire the spectacle of the pink flamingos found in the nearby Spartivento pond. About 150 meters from the shore there is an islet of dark rock that can be easily reached by swimming.
This enchanting crescent beach owes its name to an octopus that inhabits the waters that bathe it called in Sardinian pruppu giudeu. It can be easily reached by car and is equipped with numerous services including paid parking, restaurant, bar, deckchair and umbrella rental, diving center. At sunset it is a very popular meeting point for the young people of Chia, who spend their evenings here with music and aperitifs.
